In my very brief time as a professional software developer I’ve had the opportunity to work with a very knowledgeable and inspiring mentor. It’s my belief that you can only get so far in life on your own, and that to get to that metaphorical “next level” you need the help of someone who has been there before. I hope that I can make the impact on someone’s life that my mentor has made on mine.
I watched a presentation on TDD recently as part of a work assignment that really had a BIG impact on me (see below for link).
“PROCESS is the difference between SURGERY and CUTTING PEOPLE OPEN.”
“PROCESS is the difference between ENGINEERING and TINKERING.”
“PROCESS is the difference between SOFTWARE ENGINEERING and PROGRAMMING.”
How can we apply this to everyday life? “PROCESS is the difference between LIVING LIFE MINDFULLY, and just LETTING LIFE WASH OVER YOU LIKE A TIDAL WAVE.”
Have a process. Meet your goals faster and more reliably.
